timethief Hello there. I don't have children and I don't do Facebook. I believe that what most mothers want to receive is recognition and honor, rather than consumer goods. But this brainwashed by advertising corporate and consumer driven society we live in determines for us that it's easy to purchase whatever on plastic, and add a greeting card and we are all in and all done when it comes to honoring mom.
Last year my friend's 3 kids gave her a hand written certificate for 1 week of no housework and cooking and they carried through and did the work for her. She was able to spend a whole week writing a chapter for her upcoming book and was overjoyed with the thoughtfulness that went into deciding on the most meaningful gift they could give her ie. the time to so her own thing without interruptions.
Perhaps more kids should turn off the TV and all their other electronic gear and give their mother their ear. Yeah, I mean actually create the time to have a relationship with the cook,chauffeur and instant gratification provider that moms have been reduced to.
