The firing squad has been Utah's most-used form of capital punishment. Of the 49 executions held in the state since the 1850s, 40 were by firing squad.

Sebastyne I would choose firing squad if I was in that position. The lethal injection is a clean way for the bystanders but an awfully painful way to die. The trouble is, that the first injection prevents you from visibly reacting to the pain, so it looks nice. Death penalty is barbaric, what ever form you take, but why should it be made easy for the executor if they insist on using it?

Theresa111 If people stopped murdering others there would be no need for the death penalty.

jonathankopp Maybe if the state stopped the eye-for-an-eye approach, we'd could wipe the collective blood off our hands.

tonyberkman I am for rehabilitation and using a person to his or her full potential. You get charge with a homicide, you get to work in a max security prison, doing jobs that no one else would do. eg. cleaning up nuclear waste and anything else that is dangerous and people wouldn't do it for any amount of money. Get people to contribute back to society at a level that they never imagined possible. Have them work 18 hours a day. 15 minute meals. 5 hours of sleep. back to work.

Theresa111 Sorry, I do not have blood on my hands and I am glad of it. And I'm not so much an EFAE either, even though we are taught this, but rather something needs to deter people from killing others. Or, are they to do whatever they want and not be punished?

How do you feel this should be handled?

jonathankopp You've got to imagine they thought they were modern back in the Dark Ages. Gotta wonder how future generations will describe the current era.
