1. I've been away for a while. What's fryin', eggs? (Have we come up with some sort of terminology for people who post here?)

  2. My answer to an age-old question: what songs would you bring if you were stranded on an island? http://www.squidoo.com/desert-island-songs

Once I added "knowing you'll be rescued in a month" I had a much easier time narrowing down my list. Which songs would YOU restrict yourself to for a month along on a desert isle?

    Butterose

Butterose PS, Might squeeze a fifth one in and take Echoes by Pink Floyd

    12/05/10

    LyndaLehmann

LyndaLehmann Classical, Beethoven and Rachmaninoff. And maybe a compilation of 60s folk. (I live in the past...)

  3. Mornin' Fryers! Saw Harry Potter yesterday. All I remember is the Tron preview. ;)

I spent most of the movie noticing how very thin Mr. Radcliffe's lips are and wondering why they couldn't get poor Ron a haircut. But hubby and I did a very subdued little geek dance of happiness after two minutes of Tron. I subdued my squee since we were in a theater with so many others.

  4. I went looking for Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers doing I won't dance. I found Hugh Jackman.

    LyndaLehmann

LyndaLehmann Very easy on the eyes--though I'm not that shallow, of course, lol....

He sure has a lot of talents!

    legbamel

legbamel He is and I am. [fans self] There's a reason I stopped to watch the whole thing. ;)

  5. So, you not only get a great history lesson from Suzanne Sommers but you get a song my mother actually took away from us when I was eight.

Honestly, the song makes my head ache, it's so shrill, but we played the record to death 'way back when. It was this one and On the Radio. Maybe we only loved them so much BECAUSE they drove my mother nuts.

    timethief

timethief Ha! ha! ha! I remember it - disco pop.

    11/15/10

  6. Didn't someone recently post a video for Will It Go 'Round in Circles? I've got a great one to follow up that one: Billy Preston.

  7. This could be the best version of In the Mood ever. I heart Glenn Miller.

    Butterose

Butterose My Mom raised me on this kind of music. LOVE it. Her faves were Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw. They were played in my house every day.

    11/07/10

    markgeller

markgeller Loved it. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I love this song. Julie's Been Working for the Drug Squad. It was on the first Clash album I ever bought.

  9. YEAH! Buckwheat Zydeco is so amazing. Check out Hey, Good Lookin'!

    libdrone

libdrone it streams SO much better from your FB link btw. I like it, I think.

    10/31/10

    markgeller

markgeller Love Zydeco. Learned about it the first time I went to New Orleans. It's such a happy musical style. Buckwheat is the man!

  10. So, the news of the week is the stereotypical Guido who rented a warehouse and opened a strip club named Bada Bing...in Fargo.

He might have forgotten to mention it to the city, thinking that somehow the zoning and building codes didn't apply to him or to naked women or whatever his over-gelled little brain thought. And that a single toilet and no sewer connection was a good plan.

    GreenLady7

GreenLady7 What is zees, how do you say, Guido, of which you speak?

    10/22/10

    legbamel

legbamel It's a combination of fake tan, too much hair gel, too many muscles, and a little guy thinking he's a tough mobster. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_3AkRloVuSJM/R8TftshOrlI/...

  12. I've discovered that there's no way to say that someone's video looks like the opening for really raunchy gay porn without sounding phobic.

All I wanted to point out was that a bunch of very pretty young men in a variety of leather outfits, some with collars covering their lower faces, and full eye make-up doing cheer routines out of sync with cheesy music doesn't make me understand why you would swoon over them as a young girl.…

    Butterose

Butterose Meh! I remember 6 year old neice Jennifer's adoration of New Kids on the Block way back when. It's all about impressing those who don't know any better and about the money.

    10/09/10

  13. Funky song by Yolanda Be Cool: We No Speak Americano http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/s/We+No+Speak+Americano/366iQT

  14. I remember driving roads like this to get anywhere, once. I would so love to go back.

Hydrangeas grow wild there and line many roads, a riot of blue and purple that lasts all year long. As a kid that stunned me, coming from flatland suburbia.

    Theresa111

    Theresa111 I still like it 17 hours later. :-)

    10/01/10

    legbamel

legbamel It's on Terciera in the Azores. Roads like this are only one of my favorite memories of living there. They were all over the hills.

  15. Check out my new Chucks! This is why I shop in the little boys' department.

    Theresa111

Theresa111 Wow looks as if you will be moving really fast! Zoom Zoom Zoom!

    markgeller Nice.

  16. I'm working on an article about The Lady Is a Tramp and this version blew me away. Sinatra and Ella!!!

Seriously, I just wanted to jump up and dance and sing with them!

    legbamel

legbamel Butterose, clearly the people at VH1 are idiots. I have nominated Ella as the best musician of the 20th Century more than once. She was amazing in so many ways.

    9/25/10

    legbamel

legbamel Oh, my article is done enough to see the light of day, if you're curious, though I'll be polishing it more over time. http://www.squidoo.com/the-lady-is-a-tramp

  17. Search term of the day: old people can't hear gangsta rap.

    GreenLady7

GreenLady7 Sorry, but I can't hear you. Could you please speak up? Hahaha! I'm so dam funny.

    9/25/10

    legbamel

legbamel :D I can still hear it (when it's on, at least) so I must not be old.

    9/25/10

  18. This is still one of my favorite songs ever. Usually they're so wiped out by the end of a concert it doesn't sound nearly this energetic!

The last one I went to they played four encores and then came back for this one. It was the most amazing live show I've ever seen.

  19. My thanks to clockworkkitten for introducing me to My Robot Friend.

    legbamel

legbamel I don't literally know him, just his work. :D

    9/11/10

    GreenLady7

GreenLady7 Alan, is he wearing his entire oeuvre?

    9/11/10

  20. I've been hunting down people to follow here in the hopes that a notification will bring them back to check out FE once more. Couldn't hurt.

    tonyberkman

tonyberkman Yes, scribadiva. I think you are onto something great.

    10/10/10

    scribadiva

scribadiva Tony, you realize that 1. I don't have a single tattoo, and 2. There's a tattoo parlor across from my drs. office, and tomorrow I'm getting your words above tattooed around my neck (I think my forehead would be too extreme, don't you?) ;)
