A follow-up to last week's story on the #TSA sexual abuse outrages http://bit.ly/ePjJkt
2 people like this.libdrone I read one account about a flight attendant who was required to remove her prosthetic breast. Honestly, Butterose, there were just Way too many horror stories to choose from. It really does feel to me as though our civil liberties are being canceled and far too few of us are raising any fuss at all.
LyndaLehmann I'd hit the ceiling if I had to remove a prosthetic breast; it's way too personal and invasive to call upon a woman to do that. That would be traumatic for anyone who'd recently undergone mastectomy. As if the cancer weren't enough torment.
I remember a year or so ago, when my then 87 year old mother-in-law was frisked in her wheelchair at the airport. She's hunched because her spine is nearly crumbled, and they hurt her! She was near tears. -
TSA Agents Should Register As Sex Offenders http://bit.ly/bXoXi7
2 people like this.PhotosbyHank I got to throw my 2 cents in on this one. I personally see nothing wrong with the new pat downs or the scanner. It's far from a naked photograph of someone, it is very much less detailed that that. Suddenly a large circular area hanging from your chest is a bare breast? Or one hanging from the waist area a penis? Come on now !
As far as the pat downs, been through 3 in the last 2 years, not much different than getting a pat down at a concert nowadays to be honest, heck even a sporting event.
Think it's blown WAY out of proportion as far as saying it's an invasion of personal privacy, after all, flying is a CHOICE not a RIGHT so if someone doesn't like the security drive or take a train, no one is forcing the public onto airplanes !
One last thing too, why must we be given proof that attacks have been thwarted or that these procedures are working? Isn't proof that another 9/11 hasn't happened enough? Just maybe providing proof of thwarted attacks would show the ace we have in our hands and clear the way for a new attack, but of course that is crazy talk, the government just wants to screw with us . . .RichBecker Israel has better technology that is less invasive and a better track record. The new pat downs, by most accounts, are not the ones you have experienced.
I will say, having flown recently (the xrays were not hooked up yet in Vegas), attitude makes all the difference. Leaving Las Vegas made me consider avoiding flying (not that I can, given my profession) but the one out of Rhode Island felt normal, with nice professional people. -

Do you use Stumble Upon to drive traffic to Your website? http://bit.ly/cuPVwa
2 people like this.mytwistnews I never understood the concept of stumbleupon. I am registered but that is as far as it goes.
legbamel I do to some pages, but I'm leery of being too self-promotional and its exceedingly rare that someone stumbles one of mine on his or her own. :( I have found some great stuff just by stumbling around the interwebs, though.

I've written a new post....about Fried Eggs http://bit.ly/bpEq9h
5 people like this.scribadiva Butterose and markgeller, I'm the same way. Someone asked why I don't "shamelessly promote," I want to look at my reader and know there's a good reason people are there. Speaking of sharing talent, has noahalexanderdorsey shown up, from BC? If you like horror, you will love his blog. I haven't been around; too sick, although I can read your comments. Keyboard has a learning curve. I hope everyone is well. Sweet tides, Linda
commrat I like this post, I am tired of Twitter where 1 in 1000 users might be interested in making real connections.

I think my new site is ready for visitors-- not that I'm finished but it's enough of a start to show

Reposted by 1 person.Agit8r The most insidious initiative on the ballot here is the one that would privatize workers comp. Not that doing such would necessarily be bad in every instance, but there is no language in the the initiative providing for a safety net in the event that an insurer becomes insolvent, which really defeats the purpose of social insurance in the first place.
scribadiva Agit8r, don't know where we crossed paths, BC? I really like your name.
