    timethief I would ask the couple in love this:
    (1) How many arguments have you had, what were they about, and how did you resolve them?

    (2) Have you ever argued about the same thing more than once?

    (3) Have you two agreed upon a conflict resolution process that you will use when you disagree on really important matters?

    (4) Do you believe there is one and only one romantic, sweep you off your feet soul-mate out there for each of us. If so do you believe the person you are in love with now is that "soul mate"?

    (5) Do you believe you are a whole person or do you believe the one you love completes you and if so in what way(s)?

    (6) Can you visualize yourself being a whole, healthy and happy person if this love affair comes to an end?

    Our reality is that 6/10 relationships end in divorce and misery. Yet those who married presumably made a lifetime commitment to each other.

    Also there is a persistent belief that life long monogamy is the staus quo when it isn't. Serial monogamy has been the status quo for a long time now. The older we get the more attractive a life long monogamous relationship becomes.

    Factually speaking young people have multiple sexual relationships and some people never reach the point where they are ready to settle down with one partner forevermore.
