My car drove right into it. Fortunately at such a slow speed that it only cracked my plastic bumper and knocked out a signal light. I hit the rocks that hold the dirt in place. *sigh* I've been driving for more than 40 years and this is my first accident. At least the only thing hurt, other than the bumper, is my pride. Signal light is back in place, car is driveable. I'll live with the crack in the bumper. Not enough to turn into insurance company since the bumper, while expensive, is less than my deductable. To give an idea of just how big those rocks are, the slate Welcome sign is 15 inches wide. We had just moved here in the fall of 2007 and I found those 2 rocks in the creek closest to my home next to the area where local fishermen launch their boats. I had picked up those rocks purely because the shapes interested me and I hadn't quite decided what to do with them yet. I love it when life just works the way I need it to. Client doesn't have a cat but does have a small dog and since it hides when anyone is there I was wondering what's up so I was looking for the dog under or around my chair. Looked at the client who had a rather satisfied smile on her face. I told her what happened and she said I just got the seal of approval from her ghost cat. She says she's seen it, it's black. I'm a friend of the maintenance supervisor for that building. We were talking when I was leaving the building. I told him about the phantom cat and what the client said. He told me that a prior tenant owned a black cat that died in the apartment and there is no way the current tenant would know about it. There has been other tenants in there since. My choices are: Carl Paladino who strikes me as a wannabe mobster. From what I read, his businesses are profiting from his campaign contributions. Something like 2 million of campaign contributions went into hotel accomodations in hotels he owns. Car rentals from rental agencies he owns., etc. I won't even go into the 1.4 mil he collected in Empire Zone tax breaks for creating 1 job. Company I work for created 6 and didn't get anywhere near that amount. Then there's Andrew Cuomo. He means well, but he's really just more of the same and with the climate in Albany what it is, that might not be a good thing. I might as well vote for the ex-madam Kristin Davis. Real prostitution versus political prostitution. Politics does make for strange bedfellows, doesn't it?
