Women power at its strongest through news and opinion - ‘Shetizen journalist’. It is a citizen journalism website but with a key difference; it is for women, by women and of women. Reports on women’s issues are often relegated to inside pages of newspapers or non-prime time news. The normal reaction from editors is that ‘What’s new about it?’ Shetizenjournalist.com want to provide a platform where women journalists from across the world too can report on issues that they deem important. Shetizenjournalist.com is thus not only a tool for the common woman but also a tool for women journalists to report on issues that they believe in – breaking the gender stereotype that exists in mainstream media all over the world. Shetizenjournalist.com desires to become an option for women journalists to talk about more serious issues which impact women’s lives, their status and position in society, their health problems, professional needs et al. This is also a platform for women from other walks of life to report and vent their opinions on issues that impact their lives. My Story is for women who want to talk about their own experiences in the first person. QRs are for women who do not have much time, or who would prefer to quickly express their points of view or for women on the move. At Shetizen we believe in providing a voice to women from every walk of life and we want women to reach out to others with their stories no matter what their circumstances are.
