1. RichBecker Goodbye Jewel Cases

Discgear makes some of the better CD/DVD storage units on the market. The smartest design packs 100 CDs into 13 inches and makes retrieval easier than a jewel case.

  5. Theresa111 I heard this man sing when I was very young. "Stay, darling stay, just like this, stay this way, in my arms, all my heart, never one breath

apart, the whole night through, I'll be here holding you, oh so near, let me stay and retrace, every look on your face, we have loved, you and I, never saying good-bye ... darling stay.

Those lyrics have been with me ever since.

Today I found the artist again and I will surely add many of…

    Shure Earphones

It’s difficult to afford speakers that sound really great, then you’ll need a powerful amp or receiver to drive them, then a good CD player or turntable. Wait, you can stop right there. Everyone has moved away from buying CDs or LPs; digital downloads are mostly what we…

mytwistnews I just stick with my Sony MDR V-6 Headphones. The industry standard studio cans for over 20 years. Those little buds don't offer the dynamic range I am used to.

  8. PetLvr Any iTunes experts out there?

I've got about 5,000 mp3's .... since my original computer crashed last Dec/2009 I had to recover them on my backup computer with iTunes on it (v9.0.3.15). All my playlists were trashed because I never backed them up .. so, I have been creating new playlists. I have one particular playlist…

  9. RichBecker Sometimes you just have to say "whoops."

It's the anniversary of Clifford Stoll's 1995 predication that the internet had no future.

"The truth is, no online database will replace your daily newspaper, no CD-ROM can take the place of a competent teacher, and no computer network will change the way government works."

    Yeah, about…

RichBecker There is plenty of catchup being done, for sure.

I agree with Tony in that the iPad has tangible potential to help dailies evolve. What is less certain is that impact to reporting if they continue to trend toward short sound bites and hot topics. As for government, there wasn't anything else to change but the marketing. Heh.

Mostly, I love how even bright people tend to blow it. It just goes to show you that predictions are little more than educated guesses. Most people have a hard enough time figuring out what going on right now. :)

tonyberkman @RichBecker, so true :) What's interesting is most of us find it difficult to understand what another person is really saying. e.g. my interpretation of your initial post was off ;)

  10. Butterose Will have to get a new computer here one of these days. CD/DVD writer died, and newer ones won't fit this machine.

I have the old wide plug, newer drivers have card slot. Will be replacing it temporarily with a CD only writer. Can't see spending the money for the card when I really need to get a new computer. This baby is over 4 years old.

  11. Theresa111 Listening to "Bookends" a CD by Simon & Garfunkel. Joe bought it at Borders a few months back, so I am giving it a listen to understand why.

What is the reason that we have so many different tastes in music, clothes, places to live, subjects to study, foods to eat? Why do we have such varied desires, habits, inclinations and passions? What makes us tick?

Can you tell me a little about yourself and your proclivities? Do you embrace…
