tonyberkman Absurd: Disney Files Trademark for the Mexican Holiday "Day of the Dead"
Now you know corporate America is overstepping its bounds and losing its sense of morality ... if it ever had one when a company like Disney attempts to trade mark an established National Holiday.
Disney obviously didn't get any kudos for being cultural sensitive after attempting to trademark…

LyndaLehmann How is everybody? I was away visiting family for 8 days and haven't been able to get here!
(Or post to ANY of my sites...)
They live in Arizona, so we had the opportunity to enjoy some wonderful sunshine, for a change. And we got to Sedona (one of my favorite places) for a few precious hours!
On another note, my blog is featured today at http://bloggers.com, which is a nice surprise. -

Deray28 This happens every summer in AZ and breaks my heart every time. How can you not notice that your 2y old hasn't been around for 2 hours?
Deray28 I know TT, it's horrible. It is also very common to read that pets die this way, people are dumb and don't realize how hot a car gets during the summer!
Theresa111 Shit! All you have to do is sit in a closed automobile in the scorching heat for 60 seconds to tell it won't be a pretty picture if you stay put. This is disgraceful behavior for people, children, the elderly and pets. Never leave anyone behind or have the same thing happen to you.

efuller Racially diverse school mural the subject of open racism in Arizona town: http://bit.ly/cyf24j Read it. Share it. Stop it.
An Arizona elementary school mural featuring the faces of kids who attend the school has been the subject of constant daytime drive-by racist screaming, from adults, as well as a radio talk-show campaign (by an actual city councilman, who has an AM talk-radio show) to remove the black student’s…

Deray28 This is how the border has looked like at Nogales all day. People made a call to all Sonorans to boycott coming to AZ to shop.
It is estimated that AZ has lost $90 million dollars already due to boycotts from other cities and cancellations of mayor events. Yet, polls indicate that 60% of Arizonans support SB1070. Hopefully the Mexican boycott will make people change their minds, once they see how much damage it can…

Deray28 I know JBT! Even though it is proven that the kids taking Ethnic studies do better in school than the ones they don't, the superintendent says it teaches them "race chauvinism" and hate towards America. He is another wako!
I'm afraid Gov Brewer will try to prohibit Spanish as a second language next!proofpositivity May their children and grandchildren reproduce with illegal aliens. Imagine the possibilities. :)

libdrone So what do YOU think of Arizona's new anti-illegal-immigration law?
I honestly am up in the air. I'm a pretty hard core liberal, but on the issue of illegal immigration I find myself uncomfortably cast on the political right, rather than my more usual place on the far left. I believe that illegal immigrants depress wages and lead to poorer working…
read more1 person likes this.libdrone Youtube videos are not captioned (a complaint for another thread) so I wasn't able to watch the video. Tiffany, I don't necessarily disagree with your colleague who believed the legislators who passed the bill knowing full well it is unconstitutional and certain to be struck down but did it anyway for the political points is wrong. I just believe that the 70% of Arizonans who say they support this law have real and legitimate complaints that must be addressed. And it bothers me that the folks who are making most of the noise about civil liberties seem unwilling or unable to see and acknowledge these issues.
polybore This law is a sick and idiotic joke. The police are explicitly forbidden to use racial profiling when implementing this law.
However everyone knows that vast majority of illegal aliens in Arizona are from Latin America.
How the hell is that supposed to work?
The police will know that for every Latin American they stop they better stop one of every other racial group as well or they will be breaking the very same law they are trying to enforce. End result = the people they stop may or may not be illegal aliens but are unlikely to be able to prove it on the spot so paper work, paper work, officers time wasted and with very few results.
Morally objectionable, a waste of time, a waste of money and ultimately totally crap. -
Stillthinking Wonders if Arizona is populated entirely by paranoid racists or if it's just the state government that is.
TIFFLS Wasn't it Arizona that, years back, caused a stir by refusing to recognize MLK day?
Stillthinking I hadn't heard of that, but it seems to fit.
