tonyberkman Gordon Gheko "The Richest 1% of this country owns...."
Gordon Gekko: The richest one percent of this country owns half our country's wealth, five trillion dollars. One third of that comes from hard work, two thirds comes from inheritance, interest on interest accumulating to widows and idiot sons and what I do, stock and real estate speculation.…

FreddieSirmans WILL THE US ECONOMY SURVIVE? http://freddiesirmans.blogspot.com/
Giving money to individuals on an individual basis is the dumbest thing a government can do in a democracy for long term survival. It sets up the system we are in today where the merchants need to raise prices higher and higher to stay in business, and the government needs to raise taxes higher…

jonathankopp Use Social Media Freely, White House Tells Agencies http://bit.ly/avkStr
"Boiled down, the result of the Sunstein memo is that federal agencies under the Obama administration have been handed freedom to engage online without having to worry quite so much about collecting and archiving every blog comment, retweet, or Facebook wall post."
1 person likes this.jonathankopp I think your use of the word "lured" belies an inherent -- and perhaps appropriate -- skepticism towards government. From a privacy perspective, that's a valid issue. But to me, this memo fosters a conversation, a dialogue between the people and their government as well as a dialogue across out citizenry. It tells bureaucrats to get out of the way and paves the way towards a more open, multiple-party digital democracy (lowercase d). It says what matters most is a real time, authentic exchange of ideas and information. That's how government can be more responsive tobthe people and our progress.
tonyberkman I read it the same way as you do. My skeptic suggests that "power hungry" politicians may abuse this expanded "power" to communicate more openly, despite the original intent of open conversation.
