1. tonyberkman Can a corporate blog be interesting?

Certainly if it is the blog of a rock star, or a theatrical company it can. What about a cement company, a bulldozer manufacturer, a real estate company?

The fact is yes. Though it takes effort, story telling and real creativity. If these elements are not involved then the corporate…

  3. voodooKobra The theme of today is self-reflection. Why? I don't fucking know.

Okay, I've long thought of myself as pretty normal despite many people insisting otherwise. I've been fed this same story all my life that I'm exceptionally intelligent, and I've always dismissed it as bullshit because I know so many people who can hold their own in a conversation with me.

    But…

legbamel And just what, pray tell, is so wrong with being weird? I pride myself on being considered strange, for having interests that baffle my friends and holding beliefs that I can explain and defend rather than believing what my parents or my employer tells me. Sure, I like to be silly and have fun with people but it's always a joy to find someone with whom you can both share jokes and have real debate.

Then again, some of the people with whom I enjoy the liveliest conversations are those who would traditionally be viewed as not-so-bright, whether because of a lack of facility with spelling or grammar or a simple lack of formal education.

voodooKobra It's not a matter of being strange, quirky, or eccentric, but I have nothing in common with anyone. Platonic relationships are built on common ground. So why the hell do people even talk to me? :S

  4. GreenLady7 Got an email from a friend that I Must share. The narrator is telling a story about his dad and, Well, you'll see.

I took my Dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes (he is 66).

We decided to grab a bite at the food court.

I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him.

The teenager had spiked hair in all different colours - green, red, orange, and blue.

My Dad kept staring at her.

    The…

  5. RichBecker Happy to see a nonprofit with a message that doesn't try to make people feel guilty.

It doesn't share the scores of tragic images WaterAid has collected over the years. It doesn't beat people over the head with an insurmountable challenge that leaves them feeling powerless. It doesn't rely on shock value like sex and vegetables to generate publicity. http://bit.ly/bJQUHJ

  6. voodooKobra Aaaaaaaaaaand Blog Critics decided to piss me off.

    From Lisa McKay:
    Hi Scott,

Welcome to Blogcritics. I've just taken a look at your first submission, and I've returned it to draft for a few reasons. For openers, we like our titles to be pretty family friendly and we're looking (more or less) for a PG-13 rating with our content. The piece…

markgeller I don't know if you remember this but when I was a young student, this was all the rage - Harry Lorayne and Jerry Lucas’ The Memory Book: The Classic Guide to Improving Your Memory at Work, at School, and at Play. First time I heard of the technique which was being pimped by, Jerry Lucas, a basketball player! I read the book. If you were disciplened it really worked. I still use the technique at times even today.
